Voter Registration Pop-Ups will Take Place on Monday, October 8 and Monday, October 22 During Farmer’s Market at Plummer Park
As part of the City of West Hollywood’s continuous efforts to increase voter participation, the City is announcing it will conduct two voter registration pop-up events to encourage community members to participate in the upcoming General Election in November. The deadline to register for the General Election is Monday, October 22, 2018; the election will take place on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
“Every year millions of Americans find themselves unable to vote because they miss a registration deadline, don’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register,” said City of West Hollywood Mayor John J. Duran. “Make no mistake, this next election may very well be the most important vote we will cast in our lifetimes — let’s be certain that everyone who is eligible to vote is properly registered and then casts their vote on November 6.”
Voter Registration Pop-Ups will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 and Monday, October 22, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Helen Albert Farmers’ Market, located on the north end of Plummer Park at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard. In addition to registering voters, City staff members will provide voter education and informational materials from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s office.
Voter registration forms may be obtained at West Hollywood City Hall during regular hours; and the City’s elections page, www.weho.org/elections, provides detailed election information and links to the California Secretary of State’s Voter Registration page, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s website, and links to find specific information about how to apply to vote by mail, polling places and sample ballots. Residents can also find their polling place by visiting www.lavote.net/locator.
National Voter Registration Day was first observed in 2012 and has been growing in popularity every year since. Held on the fourth Tuesday of September, this year National Voter Registration Day will be observed on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. The day has been endorsed by the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS). It is further supported by the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED). National Voter Registration Day awareness projects seek to create broad awareness of voter registration opportunities to reach tens of thousands of voters who may not register otherwise.
